The game streamlines Pokémon battles into a dedicated, competitive experience, integrating with Pokémon HOME to allow transfer of previously befriended Pokémon. At launch, the roster includes under 200 species, with plans for expansion through live operations.

To celebrate the mobile release, a limited-time campaign from June 17 to September 2, 2026, distributes a Raichu and two new Mega Stones—Raichunite X and Raichunite Y. These enable Mega Raichu X (Electric-type with Electric Surge) and Mega Raichu Y (Electric-type with No Guard). The game is also set to become the official home for Pokémon esports competitions, starting with Pokémon Worlds in August 2026.
